Eight pounds of frozen vegetables and eight pounds of oranges came back from Safeway this week (making for a very heavy shopping bag!). Two packs of Boca “chicken” nuggets were in there also. Together, everything pictured cost $11.97. My Safeway store doubles coupons by deducting an extra 50 cents for each manufacturer coupon. Without doubles, the total cost would be $12.47. Here are the details:

Final cost: $3.99 (that is $0.50/lb)

(I got corn and peas, since they are both relatively low in pesticides.)

* Note: The 30% frozen in-ad coupon requires a minimum purchase of frozen items before it will apply ($10 at my store; read the fine print on your coupon). That represents the cost before manufacturer and double coupons – those can lower your cost below $10. (Some stores may not offer the 30% frozen coupon at all. But don’t worry, March is frozen food month, there will be more good frozen sales coming…)
